The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) launches today (April 10) the 7th edition of the Katara Boxing and Wrestling Championship which will last until April 14.
HE Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaity, General Manager at Katara said during a press-conference yesterday that Katara is keen on hosting sport events in a cultural way to enrich the content Katara is providing to visitors. "We are hosting this event for the second time and this is to assure the message of Katara", he said.
Yousef Ali Kazim, President of the Qatar Boxing Federation said that the Championship includes different weights with 10 for the youths and 10 for men. He added that 20 competitor will be awarded and 4 medals will be awarded for each weights group. "The number of contestants will be between 40-60, who will be selected after a medical test to check on their fitness and health status", he explained.
Moreover, Kazim said that this championship will give more opportunity for the private sport clubs to take part in, and that will enable to discover new talents in this sport.
He praised the fruitful cooperation with the Cultural Village Foundation and the good organization Katara provides for the event just as in the 2016 championship. He assured that there will be more cooperation in the future with Katara.
