A Ramadan shopping event stretching one-and-a-half month titled Meerat Ramadan opened at Katara Cultural Village today (Sunday) evening.
HE Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara Cultural Village opened the event which is taking place in an open area near the beach in the southern region of Katara. This market will run until June 20.
A number of leading companies specializing in production, distribution and sale of food items are participating in this shopping event. They include Al Meera Consumer Goods Company, Widam Foods Company, Arab Qatari Company for Poultry Production, Dandy and Ghadeer, among others.
This annual Ramadan market at Katara, in its second year, is offering a wide range of consumer goods to the visitors, especially families, in one place at affordable prices.
Until the beginning of Ramadan, the market will be open to visitors from 5pm to 10pm all days while during Ramadan, it will remain open from 8pm to 12 pm.
On this occasion, Dr Al Sulaiti said this year, Katara decided to open the market earlier, inspired by the success and popularity of last year's event.
He added that the purpose of this event was to provide a blend of shopping and entertainment, helping families to buy different food items they wanted during Ramadan in one place, in a joyous environment.
" This annual shopping event at Katara has become a major attraction for citizens and expatriates with the rich variety and diversity of the goods on offer," said Al Sulaiti.
Meerat Ramadan will see traditional games and other fun filled activities for children and families.
