His Excellency Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation Katara and the Vice-President of the Dominican Republic, H.E. Mrs. Raquel Peña, have inaugurated the “Colors of Quisqueya” exhibition in Building 47, Gallery 1, and the opening was also attended by His Excellency Mr. Georges Basha Hazim, Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to the State of Qatar and ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions, in addition to the media.
On this occasion, His Excellency the Genera Manager said: "Through these various exhibitions, we are working to introduce new cultures of far countries and differ from us in culture, but arts in its various tributaries have succeeded in bringing the distances closer”, adding: “Katara has previously hosted an exhibition of the Dominican Republic, a group of the most famous artists, as visitors discovered an important aspect of the history and culture of the Dominicans.
His Excellency explained that Katara welcomes creators from different countries of the world to achieve its mission of building connections between nations.
In her speech, Her Excellency Mrs. Raquel Peña, Vice President of the Dominican Republic, expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the Katara Cultural Village Foundation for this opportunity and organizing this exhibition, saying: “I am proud to be among you today in this exhibition, which shows an important aspect of Dominican culture, as art is a global language that allows everyone to converge and get to know each other”, She added: “these artworks on display are for the most important Dominican artists in the 20th century, and I hope you enjoy learning about our history and culture.The exhibition included 35 paintings by 12 of the most famous Dominican artists, and will continue until 29November, from 10 am to 9 pm, in Building 47, Exhibition No. 1.
