Moon Bridge Amal Al Aathem is one of the most prominent and proactive Qatari artists today, her reputation as a Qatari artist with a real voice and message has won her respect internationally. Her work has been widely exhibited in the region and in different parts of the world. Under the title “Woman and the Moon”, Amal Al Aathem presents artwork resulting from her ongoing project of addressing the condition of woman today, through her artistic practice.  The artist questions the centrality of the woman and the moon in the Universe, directly asking us if “it is still accurate to believe that nature and women declare births and new springs?”. Amal Al Aathem believes that old philosophies have linked the moon, nature and the woman in a symbolic way, believing that the moon is the center of the universe and the woman is the center of society. The exhibition will be addressing all the above issues, all of them very relevant within the discourse on/of the condition woman in today’s world, with an emphasis in the Arab and Middle East cultures.
