Susan Kulkarni is an Oxford and RADA trained Costume Designer with over a decade's worth of experience in film, TV and theatre. This is an unique opportunity to meet with and learn from a talented industry professional. The Workshop Costume Breakdown is the technique of making new clothes look as if they have been worn for many years. It is an essential part of the Costume Department's job and is the way that a Costume designer creates real, believable and authentic characters based on what they wear and how they wear it. Susan will show images from existing films to show how costumes and clothes create a character and how breakdown techniques have been applied. She will show before and after pictures to show the effects that can be achieved. Then participants will be invited to apply these practical techniques on their own clothes.
