As part of “Qatar Japan 2012” project to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between two countries, the Embassy of Japan is going to organize a Japanese popular theatre performance by “Kengeki Harukomaza” in cooperation with Human and Cultural Exchange General Incorporated Association and with the full support of KATARA. Japanese popular theater which became distinguished from traditional theater in 20th century has been loved by general public for its casual way and entertainment feature. It could be described as a Japanese musical comedy. “Kengeki Harukomaza” is recognized as one of the most creative popular theatre troupes in Japan lead by the charismatic performer, Mr. Ryu Tsugawa. They will perform an omnibus of Japanese dance and music from popular theater scenes. The audience can understand the performance without the knowledge of Japanese language. A highlight of the show is that some actors impersonate beautiful women. Some actresses also play the role of cool men. It will create a mystical world with a wide variety of performances. “Japanese Dance and Music ~Omnibus from Popular Theatre Scenes~” is specifically made for the performance in Qatar. As the State of Qatar is one of the largest contributors to support Japan after the Great East Japan Earthquake, “Kengeki Harukomaza”, on behalf of the Japanese people, would like to extend their gratitude to the people and the Government of Qatar for their kind and generous support.
