He was invited as Maestro Suggeritore by the Bayreuth festival in 2001 and 2001. He then began his collaboration with the Opernhaus Zurich and has also worked with the Theatre du Chatelet, Paris, the Opera National, Paris, the Festspielhaus Baden Baden, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and the Theater an der Wien in Vienna. Rieder made his operatic conducting debut at the Zurich Opera in December 2006 when he replaced Christoph von Dohnanyi in Ariadne auf Naxos. He has also conducted Die Zauberfloete in Zurich, L'Italiana in Algeri for the Theater Basel, Le Sacre du Printemps in St.Gallen, Tosca in Innsbruck. Reider conducted the Tonnhalle Orchestra in Zurich in 2008 and 2009 in a cycle of five concerts of the world premiere of "Eelemwentenzyklus" of the Swiss Composer Rodolphe Schacher. He also made his first recording with the Tonhalle Orchestra of Schacher's The Rose of Jerico. In 2009 Rieder returned to the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck for Les Contes D'Hoffmann in a production staged by Brigitte Fassbaender. Rieder has also joined Jonas Kaufmann for concerts in Prague, Athens, Copenhagen, Essen and Regeneburg. He recently conducted Rachminanov's Symphony Number 2 with the Hofer Symphoniker. In Zurich he joined the Zurich Kammerorchester for the premiere and recording of Schacher's Die Wilden Scwaene.
