From the Favelas of Rio to the Amazon rainforest, and from the vibrant cityscapes of Doha to the shifting sands of the Qatari desert; 4 photographers from 2 di¡erent continents documented their journey as moments captured in time; engaging in an inspiring exchange of artistic discovery and cultural dialogue. This is a photography exhibition to showcase the best works of Qatari and Brazilian photographers Aref Hussein, Abdullah Al Tamimi, Andre Joaquim and Leonardo Wen which will be on display in Katara from 3rd June – 1st July 2014 in Qatar Photographic Society’s Gallery 18. Qatar Brazil: A Journey from the Amazon to the Desert is a unique visual interpretation of this year’s Qatar Brazil 2014 Year of Culture. In collaboration with the Qatar photographic Society (QPS) and the Ministry of Culture, Qatar Brazil 2014 sent two Qatari photographers from QPS on a two week expedition across Brazil to photograph its landscapes, people, food, culture, and touristic highlights. The aim was to capture the essence of Brazil through Qatari eyes. In turn, two Brazilian photographers were invited to Qatar to journey across the Arabian Peninsula to experience its history, people, tradition, food and culture through Brazilian eyes. This exhibition showcases the best photographs taken during both trips. A documentary of their extraordinary experience has been produced capturing behind the scenes footage, and the making of this incredible journey.
