In bid to revive the ancient marine heritage and pay tribute to ancestors, the Cultural Village Foundation Katara, launches Senyar Championship, for the fourth consecutive year. The championship for this year comprises three competitions of pearl diving and fishing (Lafah and Haddaq). Senyar fourth Championship registration has witnessed a record turnout of applicants. It is noteworthy that the competitions’ winners will grab awards for the largest amount of fishing for both (Lafah and Haddaq), besides the award for fishing the largest fish in terms of weight and the largest amount of oyster. As part of its efforts to elevate this championship, the organizing committee has introduced new terms and conditions according to which, new team member from GCC countries can be included in the team. According to the new regulations, a child, aged under ten years, can be affiliated to the team under the condition of being accompanied with his guardian, while his fishing amount will be included in the total. Also, a non Qatari captain can be replaced by a national captain, and the number of the team will be up to 11. Unlike non Qatari, the captain, will be permitted to take part at fishing competition.
