​​Marcin Wyrostek - accordionist (born 16 September 1981); winner of the second edition of Poland's Got Talent; academic teacher at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice; member of the American Accordionists' Association. The first accordionist in the family and Marcin's first tutor was his Father. He became the happy owner of the instrument when Marcin's grandfather exchanged one of his cows for an accordion. Since then the sound of accordion accompanied all family reunions. Marcin continued his musical education in primary and secondary musical school in Jelenia Góra. He would spent whole nights in a garage and practice playing. He developed his passion under the supervision of professor Joachim Pichura at the Academy of Music in Katowice where he is now employed as an academic teacher. He is a laureate of over 30 accordion contests (in Poland and abroad), including Detroit (USA) 2005, Esztergom (Hungary) 2003, Dunajska Streda (Slovakia) 2003, Reinach (Switzerland) 2003. In the academic year 2004/2005, he was awarded the scholarship by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. He is a laureate of over 30 accordion contests (in Poland and abroad), including Detroit (USA) 2005, Esztergom (Hungary) 2003, Dunajska Streda (Slovakia) 2003, Reinach (Switzerland) 2003. In the academic year 2004/2005, he was awarded the scholarship by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. He gave concerts at the biggest Polish musical stages, including at 50th Anniversary of the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole, Sopot TOPtrendy Festival, Transatlantyk Festival, Singer's Warsaw Festival. He gave concerts with the top Polish musicians - Kayah, Maryla Rodowicz, Ryszard Rynkowski, Adam Sztaba and AUKSO Orchestra. One of the most exciting musical challenges for Marcin was performing together with Bobby McFerrin in 2010. His repertoire includes classical, jazz and ethno-folk music. The key element of his musical identity is improvisation.
