Katara Tech Forum presents wide range of electronic services

The monthly Katara Tech Forum was held at Katara Cultural Village Building 15 today (Tuesday) featuring presentations by   Qatar Post, Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Public Health, focusing on their electronic services.
Naama Abdul Mohsen, Deputy Manager of Information Technology Department spoke about future post services. Al Naama said Qatar Post's new strategy launched last year was developed in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Qatar E-government 2020 Strategy.

" Qatar Post is transforming from classical to digital services. Our e-commerce services are the best example. It is the first time Qatar Post gets into the international e-commerce map," said Al Naama.

She introduced the major e- services of Qatar Post: Connected, which provides clients with virtual addresses in UK and USA; E-delivery for SMEs and even big companies helping them to deliver whatever items inside Qatar and outside and the recently launched Turkish Souq, providing Qatar Post clients more than 300,000 items from Turkey at QR50 for each parcel, whatever the size be.

Al Naama said that all the Qatar Post counters have been refurbished with one-touch screen, doing all services.

Qatar Post is also expanding its self-serving kiosks, which is currently available only in the main office. There will be 20 more kiosks to be set up at various Qatar Post branches and probably in some Al Meera outlets, said Al Naama.

Lieutenant Ali Al Aidroos, Smart Devices Branch Officer at the Ministry of Interior in his presentation said currently the Ministry is providing more than 200 electronic services in six languages, with over 400,000 active users for the different online communication channels of the Ministry.

He added that the Ministry is working on introducing several new  services such as identification through face and government personal assistance services.

Akram Abu Ghaza of the Ministry of Public Health spoke about the various online services being offered by the Ministry, especially the recently introduced My Health Patient Portal which allows patients to access all medical records online free of charge.

The Ministry is currently working on the second phase of the portal which will allow patients to interact with physicians,  request or reschedule appointments and provide various other services. He added that the new website of the Ministry with advanced features is expected to be launched by end of this year.

Engmar Weber from the Qatar Computing Research Institute (QCRI), gave a presentation on how to launch advertisement campaigns using facebook and the available tools and information.

On the occasion, Katara honoured the speakers and two other experts for their valuable contributions.

Various e-services being offered by Q-Post, Ministry of Interior, QCRI, Katara and some other entities were on display on the sidelines of the event.
