Last Thursday evening proved to be an unforgettable one for all music and opera lovers who were present at Katara,
as they were held spell-bound by the ‘Shehrazed Symphony’, a music orchestra hosted by the Cultural Village Foundation in association with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra, the Algerian National Orchestra and the Embassy of Algeria.
The musical extravaganza was in line with Katara's approach of recognizing artists from other countries that have a rich cultural heritage, by offering a platform to exhibit their talents to the public.
Speaking on the occasion, the General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation- Katara, HE Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti, said, "Music has always been a powerful tool for bridging the cultural divide amongst people. It is an international language that eliminates borders and fosters cross-cultural bonds."
The Ambassador of the Republic of Algeria to Doha, HE Mr. Abdelaziz Seba, expressed his gratitude to the Cultural Village Foundation Katara for the active cooperation and support given to host a musical event of this magnitude.
The music scores were jointly performed by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and the Algerian National Orchestra. The Algerian National Orchestra, alongside its activities in Algeria, has a track record of successfully presenting similar concerts at various venues and events. The aim of the Orchestra is to promote and disseminate classical music amongst all music lovers irrespective of nationality or culture. It also aims at translating and preserving Algerian music that is an integral part of the country's heritage by collaborating with various cultural entities
