The seventh Holy Quran memorisation competition for children being organized by Katara Cultural Village
on the occasion of the Holy month of Ramadan began on Sunday. The contest will continue until May 31.
Fifty children aged 10 to 12 years including girls are participating in the competition.  

The orientation sessions for the participants which began on Sunday include lessons in selected verses from the Holy Quran and the tradition of the Prophet (Hadith), prayer, Islamic history and Islamic etiquette.

Winners will be awarded prizes at the end of the competition.

The sessions for boys take place at the main mosque in Katara and for girls at the Golden Mosque in Katara after Asr prayers from Sunday to Thursday over two weeks.

The annual competition aims to keep children attached to the Islamic identity and values, through the study, memorisation and recitation of the Holy Quran.
